Diary Entry

Tues 9th Jan

I’ve just recorded a voiceover for someone in Belfast, Ireland. Currently my only order of the day. Then I thought, I haven’t written in my blog since last Friday!

It’s day 9 of the diet, and it’s going great! The secret? We’ve been eating breakfast every day, having a small lunch and a bigger evening meal before 6pm. No snacking on rubbish, no processed freezer food… i’ve lost 5lb’s already! Shifting that weight for the year of the wedding 🙂 When you’re self-employed, it’s difficult not to just keep eating all day when you’re sat inside all day with food surrounding you. All of a sudden you’ve piled on the pounds and you just keep eating biscuits, crisps… everything you shouldn’t!

On Saturday, Gareth and I went wedding ring shopping. We picked some really beautiful rings and I can’t wait ’til they’re ready! It’s exciting how time is flying so fast now we’ve hit 2018. Nearly everything is ready… Just outfits and the cake to sort!

Anyway, last week I didn’t think I was going to make enough money for my weekly goal.  Which can be a little worrying when you have bills to pay and a wedding to save for. But on Sunday night I had a premium jingle order in on Fiverr from someone based in Jersey, which covered me for the week! So I hit that goal, but last minute. It’s a money rollercoaster in this job. You can feel poor one day and next everything can correct itself. So I was very pleased. I told my buyer i’d get it sent to them today (Tuesday) as I was visiting my great friend Isabel yesterday. However, I came home and got working on it and finished it too! They loved it first time too. So not only did I deliver earlier than I said, I got it perfect first time! My favourite type of orders. They gave me a 5 star review and said they’d certainly be back in the near future. Hurrah!!

Diary Entry, Theme Songs, TV Adverts

Thu 21st Dec

So far today has been a day of wrapping up for Christmas. I’m still working on the Chinese TVC with my client in Singapore, I’ve recorded four radio voiceovers, a short voiceover bought on Fiverr and now it’s time to get started on a theme song for a children’s show! I will then extend all my delivery times to one week and finish up for Christmas. I do have to work harder at this time of year, as I do unlimited revisions and sometimes orders may take more revisions than others and when time is running out i’ve got to work even faster to get it done! I wish you all a Merry Christmas and i’m looking forward to getting back to work for a day next Wednesday!

I’ve been making mince pies this evening. I think I should stick to the day job. 🤣

Jingles, Theme Songs

The Jelly Belly Schmelly Show!

This is one of my favourite children’s entertainer jingles written especially for The Jelly Bell Schmelly Show! Totally love her show, it’s so Bright and FUN! The theme song really fits the package i’m so glad she found me and chose me to write and produce her jingle. Check her out!

Always be ahead of yourself

Screen Shot 2017-12-11 at 13.03.25

No one ever likes to see this message whilst uploading a completed project! But you should always be prepared. Fiverr has been growing a lot since it started, and problems do occur as with every website. Time’s like these I like to grab a cup of tea and throw on some music (Taylor Swift today) while they fix the problem. Never get mad at Fiverr if you haven’t been organised enough to get the job done with plenty of time to spare!

I’ve nearly completed my project list for today. Love Song – they were happy! Itsy Bitsy Vocals – waiting on feedback and the Youtube Introduction was so fun to do i’m excited to hear their thoughts on the track so far. They live in America so they’re not awake yet. They ordered in the middle of the night so hopefully they’ll enjoy the very fast delivery to start their day!

Thankfully the power came back on earlier than estimated so I managed to get ahead of myself! I’m on a role… girl power! Two tracks to go and then I can search youtube for past projects. Oh, and it’s PRS royalties week this week! My favourite week of the year, there are four of them.

Events

Fiverr Networking Event, London

A positive of being self-employed is that you don’t need to book time off to go where you want to go. You just get all your work done and let clients know you’ll be away for a certain amount of time and may take longer to deliver. Luckily, I got all my work done and went to London with a work-free mind. I despise having work ready to do and I can’t stop thinking about it until i’ve finished it so my work in queue is usually rather short. Fast delivery & perfection is the key!

It took an early morning wake up call, a public bus to Gloucester and then the National Express to London (4 hours in total). I was really happy to be in the company of my Fiancé who is always very supportive of attending these Fiverr events with me. The last Fiverr event was 2014 and we stayed at a 3 star hotel. The shower was cold, the furniture was rather dated and there wasn’t much space to move. This time we had a 4 star hotel located near Victoria Bus Station. A hot shower, complimentary breakfast and a really comfortable bed. It certainly felt like i’d come a long way since last time just to have all these luxuries! Or I just didn’t know how to pick a good hotel back then as there was only £30 difference… aha!

We finally found the event, hidden in We Work Warehouse, a few minutes walk from Chancery Lane tube station. The event in 2014 located at The Lucky Pig was more of a party, with food drink and dancing. Full of Fiverr sellers and staff, many I knew and many I met for the first time! A Photo Booth, a videographer and it was the most amazing party in my life. So many Fiverr staff and Swag (t-shirt, phone charger, stickers, notepad etc). But this event was a little different. Less party and more professional.

The complimentary food and drink was lovely, only three members of fiverr staff came this time and the swag was a hot drink cup. Most of my top-rated seller Fiverr friends didn’t go which was a great shame, there wasn’t any music and we had to be out by 9pm. It was quite a long way to go for a 2.5 hour networking event and it attracted mainly London based entrepreneurs. Many people had their own businesses, maybe used Fiverr for Logos etc. But I got asked questions like “Do you earn enough?” of which I replied yes I do! and someone nearly spat out their drink when I said I sell gigs usually $175+. The previous event had speakers, it was inspiring to sellers and made me really feel like my job was real and something to be proud of. I hope they’ll arrange a party very soon so new Fiverr Sellers will get inspired like I was 🙂 Networking events aren’t as wild as parties! 😉

I am glad I went, I don’t visit London very often and it was great to see Liron, MrExplainer and Danilo again. Gareth and I also visited the first ever Hard Rock Cafe, saw the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, saw Big Ben in Scaffolding and WALKED OVER sharks at the SeaLife Aquarium! It was a slow 5 hour journey back home but all in all a very good trip!
