Diary Entry

Hello!

Hello! Thank you for visiting my page. I’ve decided to start up a blog about what i’ve been up to and give you a good idea about what it’s like working as a self-employed jingle writer, song writer and voiceover artist.

My Set Up

I sit under the stairs at my desk with my iMac, Samson USB Condenser Microphone, Audio-Technica Headphones and LogicPro X Software. That’s literally all I need for my songwriting business. Everything else is optional eg. Soundcloud Subscription, Website (www.shiftypopmusician.com)…

If you want to be a freelance musician it takes a lot of determination and proving people wrong to create your unique job that doesn’t exist until you get not only your first few buyers, but your returning buyers that make music your job. You can’t find a “jingle-writing job” in the job adverts. The job is made up of a lot of jobs and deadlines from different people you find through opportunities and sometimes chance. You need to be active and always searching. After a while, if you’re lucky, more and more people will return to you for more! I strongly recommend a university course that specialises in music. I went to the University of South Wales, Newport (2009-2012). The University merged with other South Wales Uni’s and now the course doesn’t exist but i’m thankful I was born the year I was so that I could attend the best 3 years of my life, finding myself as a musician and the sound that truly comes from my heart. My upbeat toytastic sound.
